Hi there, and thanks for coming to check out my blog. The story of The Birdz and the Breeze begins on a leisurely hike one afternoon with my wife. I was discussing photography with my wife and how I wanted to get more into photography and actually do something with the images I had taken thus far. She suggested I began with an Instagram account. I was not sold but I decided to give it a try. Now I just needed a name for the account. After some spit-balling my wife suggested The Birdz and the Breeze as a play on the popular saying of the birds and the bees.
So it was born, the Instagram account took off and after constant posting and thousands of likes and comments and an outpouring of love and support it wasn't too long before I had accumulated 5,000+ followers. I kept at it and wanted it to grow it further.
I started thinking about what else I could be doing and I thought about a website. So I decided to build a website. The end result, as I was just learning to program was a poorly built and a hard to manage site.
That year my wife and I planned a trip. We took three weeks off to explore the United Kingdom. We planned the trip meticulously to make sure we could fit in seeing some family in London and then on to the new and unexplored Wales, Scotland, Ireland (north and south) and a one day stopover in Portugal. It was truly an amazing trip from beginning to end. The pictures that I took on the trip really encouraged me to keep going and to try and build this into something more.
After returning home from our trip I started thinking about buying a professional camera. After much research and digging and even discussing it with some pros I decided to stick to mobile photography. The reason being that with my limited budget the quality of what you will get on an older DSLR or mirrorless camera will be so close to what one can capture with a new smartphone that it wouldn’t be worth the money to spend on the camera. So until I can afford to spend a large amount of money on a good professional camera I will continue to discover the seemingly limitless possibilities of the smartphone.
After a year of not much success with my current website at the time I decided it was time to rebuild the website to be faster, better and easier to manage. With this new website I also decided to launch a blog, this one, alongside so I can share what tips and tricks I had picked up along the way. My goal is to highlight the power of mobile photography and be able to share my tips and tricks as well as my passion with everyone.
